Regarding 2023W Courses During the UPEI Faculty Association Strike
The UPEI Faculty Association initiated strike action on March 20, 2023. During the strike, all teaching—including classes, online lectures, labs, tutorials, assessments, etc.—is suspended. You will retain access to your UPEI email, myUPEI, and Moodle account (except where access to individual courses has been deactivated by the instructor).
You will be able and are encouraged to continue to work on your assignments, readings, and research during the strike. Submission deadlines for assignments due during the strike period do not have to be met. Tests, quizzes, etc. that are scheduled during the strike will not take place.
Students are welcome to come to the University campus and will be able to enter UPEI buildings, use the library, and access student services.
For more information about how the strike may impact students, visit the student FAQ page on the UPEI Labour Relations website.Access to Winter Semester Moodle Courses
Moodle course sections are created with a 'hidden' status. Course instructors need to open courses for students to be able to access the course or receive course announcements. This is because students are added to courses 28 days prior to the official start date of your course. As most courses are not ready for student viewing 28 days prior to the official start date, students cannot see the course until the 'hidden' status has been changed.
