This course examines the historical and contemporary structure and functions of the Canadian criminal justice system, including legislation, policing, courts, corrections, and parole. Various forms of law breaking are studied such as youth offences, conventional street crime, family violence, white collar and corporate crime, and organized and political crime. Topics include social, cultural, and demographic correlates of crime; patterns of victimization; the role of the community and of society's institutions; and various theoretical explanations used in criminology Three hours a week. 17-05-2021-29-06-2021
