This course examines the history, purpose, and uses of a Liberal Arts education, with attention to the three key areas identified in the major: communication, leadership and culture. In this course, students explore core Liberal Arts concepts-for example, language, history, and creativity-both in terms of how they are studied in the post-secondary classroom and how they are applied outside the university context. The applied part of the course focuses on community engagement, citizenship and social responsibility. Students are introduced to community-based research, participatory action research, and community service learning, as well as the use of technology to promote social change. This course is for students who would like a better understanding of Liberal Arts skills and knowledge, particularly in relation to civic engagement. 09-09-2021-07-12-2021 Hybrid Tuesday, Thursday 08:30AM - 09:45AM, SDU Main Bldg, Room 211
