This graduate course is designed to extend a general understanding of global education through a critical examination of the impact of globalization on education. Anchored in the core concept of global citizenship and the interdependent nature of the global community we live in, this course will engage educators in examining global education theory and practice, understanding key global education topics, objectives, concepts and issues, and critically reflecting on curriculum, pedagogy and assessment strategies to nurture responsible global citizens who can act and make a positive difference in local, national and global communities. Through readings, audio-visual materials, writing reflections, online discussions, and assignments, students will broaden their knowledge and understanding of global citizenship education and its implementation in a variety of educational contexts.
