The purpose of formative feedback is to inform both the instructor and the student of the student’s progress. It is usually ungraded or low-stakes as well as ongoing. In this workshop you will explore the concept of formative feedback, discuss a formative feedback model (Nichol & Macfarlane-dick, 2006) and investigate principles for building formative feedback into your instruction.
Through participation in this learning space, you will be able to:
- Identify the intent and value of formative feedback
- Identify formative feedback resources
- Explore practical, ready to use, formative feedback strategies and techniques
