Students will learn the basic steps of radiography and then apply these to radiography of the upper & lower limb, thoracic viscera and abdomen.
In addition to positioning principles, students will practice critically evaluating radiographs.
RAD 2110 involves a combination of both lectures and practice-based learning. Students will practice positioning principles during labs at the QEH. Students will also participate in image analysis sessions weekly.

Course Description
This course will examine the politics of the Korean peninsula from the 1950s until the present, with a particular focus on the domestic politics of South Korea and its international relations. In the 1953, South Korea was a war-ravaged and impoverished nation, with limited international relations and an authoritarian government. Today, it is known for its cultural products, stable democracy, and economic prowess. At the same time, Korea remains divided and tense, and strong regional powers threaten to engulf the peninsula in potential future conflicts. How did Korea arrive at this moment? This course will explore this question by delving into the domestic and international politics of South Korea. The first half of the course will mainly look at the politics of authoritarianism and democratization from the 1950s until the present by exploring issues such as the establishment of two separate states, military government, the democratization movement, and contemporary South Korean politics. The second half of the course will examine South Korea’s relationship with international powers such as the US, Japan, China, and of course, North Korea.

This course provides the student with an understanding of "an emerging approach to enhancing participation, building awareness, and influencing behavior using 3D landscape visualization to depict past and future scenarios". In addition, each theory will be followed by a lab component, providing a hands-on experience for the students. Further, this course will "examine forms of climate change visualization that integrates analytical capabilities of GIS-based software with emotionally rich and intuitive media and how they are utilized in climate change impact assessment and decision making"

This course explores fundamental questions about teaching, learning and cultural transmission. Methods used include interactive lecture and discussion, small group discussion, readings, presentations, guest speakers, interviews, and documentary films. The experiential education components of the course include a teaching session: in groups of 2 and with guidance from the course instructor, students will collaboratively plan and give an interactive guest presentation in a classroom at the educational level of their choice (a local elementary school OR a secondary school OR a community organization).
Here is a sample of the philosophical questions we will explore throughout the course …
What should schools be trying to accomplish? What assumptions about human nature lie behind different approaches to education? What is intelligence, creativity, mindfulness? Can they be taught? What roles should music, art, sports, and productive skills education play in schools? What do video games teach? If so, what do they teach, and what role should they play in public education? In what ways is AI a valuable learning resource, and in what ways is it an educational problem?
Are schools contributors to the cultural and economic sources of climate change, or our greatest hope for overcoming them (or both)? What can schools do to help end rather than perpetuate inequality, racism, ethnocentrism, and discrimination on the basis of language, religion, gender, sexuality, body and health? Can education transform the world?

Contemporary understandings and practices will be overlaid on traditional understandings of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and wellbeing to identify and foster holistic Indigenous health and well-being. This course will also allow the student to become conversant with the ways in which both historic and contemporary issues have impacted Indigenous people’s health, and how these issues are being addressed in present-day Mi’kma’ki, particularly PEI.

diversity and inclusivity, including equity and reconciliation are essential abilities required to address the challenges present in business today. Now more than ever, global leaders and those who aspire to become effective global leaders (regardless of managing people), must be equipped to create environments that support, enhance and foster such behaviors beyond fulfilling written and unwritten quotas and mandates.
A key area to explore will include expanding traditional definitions of diversity, inclusion and advocacy. Extensive practical application will provide an opportunity to gain knowledge, comfort and confidence in simulated real life work situations.
This course is also designed to support the development of key interpersonal, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence skills.

This course presents students with the concepts and theories used in the study of social definitions of the Self and its relationship to social institutions and structures. Emphasis is placed on ideas regarding personality, communication, motivation, and the interpersonal forces at play in face-to-face and group processes. This course will look at key theoretical approaches to the “self” and “society” from different philosophical, ideological, and political perspectives. We will look at contemporary philosophers and theorists who have discussed the interesting, complex, and sometimes conflictual relationships that emerge when different individuals participate in societies, globally. The course offers students an introduction to the work of widely cited theorists and philosophers in the Liberal Arts and Humanities, and Social Sciences who are interested in how societies are formed by the legal recognition of personhood among diverse social actors. We will also look at how and why societies shape and discipline the self. Finally, the course asks you to consider how different social actors, such as artists, attempt to blur the boundaries between the self and society.

This course provides an introduction to key themes in Africa’s modern history. Given its vast scope, the course will focus specifically on Sub-Saharan Africa, and the historical circumstances that have tethered its diverse regions together since the turn of the sixteenth century. Framing our study along this five-hundred year timeline allows us to foreground the complexity of precolonial livelihoods, institutions, and states before exploring the extent to which they transformed under the modern pressures of the slave trade, colonial conquest, and predatory capitalism. Ultimately, this course seeks to debunk longstanding myths about the continent by illuminating Africa’s connectedness to the wider world and centring the voices, values, and efforts of Africans themselves.
In addition to analyzing a wide variety of primary sources—from maps and music to government reports, newspaper articles, and oral traditions—this course delves into academic studies and debates that have shaped the field of African history as a whole. Students will be asked to interrogate these sources and the many different kinds of evidence scholars have marshalled to make arguments about the past.

This course unpacks elections like 2025’s and how political parties in Canada organize to compete for power. The first part of the course focuses on the historical context on the rise of political parties in Canada and the three principal federalist parties that contest federal elections today: Liberal, Conservative, and New Democratic. The second part of the course takes a thematic approach, examining party leaders, how and why candidates are selected, societal representation in parties, political communications, electoral reform, voting behaviour and foreign interference. By the end of the course student will have a firm grounding in the key debates concerning modern Canadian elections and political parties.
Seminar: Three hours a week. 04-09-2025-04-12-2025 Lecture Thursday 08:30AM - 10:50AM, Health Sciences Bldg, Room 105
- 教師: Collins Jeffrey
At the global level this is exemplified today by tensions between China and the United States over Taiwan, and present wars in Ukraine and Israel-Palestine. Likewise, conflicts long ended in remote places like the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic or Northern Ireland equally show that decisions made even generations ago on boundaries are never truly settled and can ignite with tragic consequences. Meanwhile, at a more local level we can see neighbourhoods’ fracture over very real political disputes on electoral boundaries, housing zoning, and safe injection sites. So, no matter where one lives the intersection of geography, politics, and history is never far.
This course will therefore ground students in the historical ideas behind contemporary political geography and the critiques made against said ideas. Subsequent lectures focus on major themes in the field, including geopolitics, nationalism, the concept of the state, humanitarian intervention, and urban political geography. One week will also be dedicated to analyzing the political geography of Prince Edward Island. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for upper year courses across the sub-fields of Canadian Politics and Public Policy, Comparative Politics and International Relations.

Course Description
This methodology course is intended for pre-service intermediate and senior school teachers to begin to think about the practice of teaching social studies: Canadian studies, history, economics, geography, political studies, global studies, law, and citizenship education. The goal of this course is to encourage students to become reflective and effective educators by investigating historical ideas and moments, notions of law and politics, economics, citizenship, and geographical spaces and issues -- and how all of these may intersect in the secondary classroom. We will explore current pedagogical practices, tools, and methods in the area of Social Studies. We will acknowledge Indigenous ways of knowing as much as possible throughout this course.
The course will focus on Big Ideas as well as recurring themes, issues, and strategies within social studies education. Big Ideas form the overarching framework for good classroom planning, learning and teaching, and assessment that will engage students and encourage critical thinking.

Operations Management (OM) is the core function responsible for designing, operating, and improving the essential tasks and systems required to take a business's various inputs and transform them into higher valued outputs.
In parallel, Supply Chain Management (SCM) encompasses the broader, external environment. It involves the critical processes of sourcing materials, managing inventory, and distributing the resulting high-value outputs to the final customer.
To be effective in either of these fields, a balanced developed of two key skill sets is essential:
Technical Skills: Focusing on analytical abilities, process design, data interpretation, and optimization.
Soft Skills: Focusing on effective communication, leadership, collaborative problem-solving, and adaptability.
This course is specifically designed to combine the principles of Entrepreneurship with its foundational subject, Operations. By integrating these two areas, students will learn to move beyond a narrow, short-term operational viewpoint. Instead, the course will teach you to understand and navigate a business from a comprehensive, long-term strategic view, ensuring that all operations are aligned with a broader, sustainable vision for the company's future. By the end of the term, students will develop a nuanced understanding of the ideological currents influencing Canadian society, political parties, and public policies. Students will be equipped to analyze and critique political developments in Canada from multiple ideological perspectives.
- 教師: Collins Jeffrey
New agencies have been stood up – a Major Projects Office, a Defence Investment Agency – and legislation passed (Bill C-5). Companies and provincial/territorial governments are lining up with their preferred projects for federal funding and expedited approval. However, scepticism persists. All levels of government have struggled to get big things done in this country. Billions of dollars in shipbuilding, mass transit, dams, IT initiatives have been spent on delayed and costly projects over the past 25 years. Indigenous communities continue to voice concerns about rights being trampled. Civil society groups see the Carney government’s ambition as a distraction from tackling climate change and poverty reduction.
In this course, students will critically explore whether Canada can successfully deliver major infrastructure projects. Guided by current debates and real-world case studies, students will analyze the government’s push for nation-building through megaprojects, including new agencies and legislation. Students will examine the roles of industry, provincial governments, and Indigenous communities, and assess the challenges—such as delays, cost overruns, and social impacts—that have shaped Canada’s track record.

Learning can happen anywhere and at any time. The space we provide for learning - be it a space as large as a classroom or as small as a single teaching activity - afford students a variety of opportunities to act. According to Gibson (1966) an affordance is what the environment offers the individual. In this workshop you will look at Gibson’s theory of affordances along with other key concepts from the intriguing field of ecological dynamics that can be applied to the design of your instruction.
Through participation in this learning space, you will be able to:
- Analyse how learning spaces function as systems of affordances and constraints that shape learner engagement.
- Explore strategies for designing or adapting learning environments to influence engagement through changes in perception–action possibilities.
- Apply design reasoning to identify strategies that modify learner–environment interactions to support participation across varied learning spaces.
This course is part of the Learning Spaces & Digital Technology Domain.
Each class and group of learners brings unique dynamics, with challenges that can sometimes be anticipated and other times emerge unexpectedly. How can you create an inclusive, engaging, and well-managed learning environment while navigating difficult situations?
This workshop will explore practical strategies for fostering student engagement, promoting inclusivity, and managing classroom challenges effectively. You will examine real-world scenarios, identify potential causes of common disruptions, and develop techniques to create a respectful and productive learning space for all students.

Through the marks they give, teachers provide a great deal of feedback to students, however, they don’t always benefit from it. According to Carless and Boud (2018) feedback literacy means the understandings, capacities and dispositions needed to make sense of information and use it to enhance work or learning strategies. This workshop will explore the concepts of giving and receiving feedback from the teacher to student and student to student perspectives.
Through participation in this learning space, you will be able to:
Identify how feedback can enhance learning
Explore the principles of giving and receiving feedback
Compare praise with affirmation in finding an appropriate companion for feedback
This course is part of the Instructional Practice Domain.

In this course, students will focus on the integration of assessment, the nursing process, and applied theory in primary health care management of individuals across the lifespan who are who are experiencing acute or acute on chronic health alterations. Students use concepts from nursing, nutrition, pharmacology, and biopsychosocial sciences to determine the most appropriate and cost effective tests, interventions, and/or pharmaceutical regimes to optimize health and wellness.
The course provides a clinical learning experience that assists the nurse practitioner (NP) student with integration and application of assessment and management skills utilizing a collaborative model of primary health care practice. Relevant conceptual and theoretical frameworks as well as the teaching-coaching role of the NP in primary health care management are integrated in class discussions. The student will become increasingly independent in their clinical decision-making skills and ability to manage select health concerns across the lifespan in a primary health care practice setting. Documentation will be completed in the problem oriented format to facilitate organization of the client data.

The goal of the course is to provide students with an introductory overview of the broad factors that determine our current climate, as well as past and future climates. We first build a foundation for understanding the principal features of today's climate. This includes examining the Earth's energy and water cycles, the processes that determine the principal atmospheric and ocean circulation features, climate feedback processes, and the dominant modes of variability. We then use this framework to interpret observational records of past climates, including ice age cycles, and to examine projections of future climate change. Finally, we will draw on climate science to identify and evaluate possible courses of action. It is intended to be accessible to students not specializing in science or engineering, while providing a comprehensive overview suitable for all students.

Teaching With Technology: Enhancing Learning Through Digital Tools
Overview
This comprehensive micro course guides educators through strategic technology integration in higher education, moving beyond tool-focused training to emphasize pedagogically-grounded decision-making. Rather than promoting technology for its own sake, the course centers on evidence-based frameworks that help faculty evaluate when, how, and why to incorporate digital tools into their teaching practice.
Learning Philosophy
The course is built on the principle that effective educational technology amplifies excellent teaching rather than replacing it. Through established frameworks like SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) and TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge), participants learn to make intentional technology choices that serve specific learning objectives while maintaining focus on student success and pedagogical effectiveness.
Course Structure
Module 1: Foundations of Educational Technology establishes theoretical groundwork through the SAMR and TPACK frameworks, teaching participants to distinguish between transformative technology use and mere digitization of traditional methods.
Module 2: Core Digital Teaching Tools explores four essential categories—Learning Management Systems, student engagement platforms, collaboration tools, and content creation technologies—with emphasis on pedagogical applications rather than technical features.
Module 3: Designing Technology-Enhanced Learning Activities guides participants through creating cohesive learning experiences that integrate multiple technologies while prioritizing accessibility, active learning, and authentic assessment.
Module 4: Emerging Technologies in Education examines artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, adaptive learning systems, and educational data analytics through established pedagogical lenses, ensuring innovation serves meaningful educational purposes.
Module 5: Implementation and Evaluation synthesizes previous learning into strategic implementation plans with robust evaluation frameworks, troubleshooting protocols, and sustainable professional development approaches.
Key Learning Outcomes
Participants will develop the ability to:
- Evaluate technology integration opportunities using research-based frameworks
- Design accessible, engaging learning activities that leverage multiple digital tools
- Create systematic approaches for measuring technology impact on learning outcomes
- Build sustainable professional practices for ongoing technology integration growth

Target Audience
This course is designed for higher education faculty seeking to enhance their teaching through thoughtful technology integration. It's particularly valuable for educators who want to move beyond basic tool adoption to strategic implementation that demonstrably improves student learning outcomes.
Capstone Experience
The course culminates in participants designing a technology-enhanced learning activity for their specific teaching context that addresses a real pedagogical challenge. This practical application ensures immediate relevance and provides a concrete starting point for implementation.
Duration and Format
Structured as a flexible micro course, the content can be delivered in various formats—from intensive workshops to extended professional development series—depending on institutional needs and participant preferences. The modular design allows for customization based on faculty experience levels and specific technology integration goals.
Expected Impact
Participants will emerge with both practical skills and critical evaluation capabilities that enable them to navigate the rapidly evolving educational technology landscape. More importantly, they'll develop a pedagogically-centered approach to technology integration that prioritizes student learning over technological novelty, ensuring sustainable and effective teaching enhancement.
