This course examines the basic issues involved in the internationalization of business, which includes the impact of international focus on business and how firms establish and conduct transactions with organizations from other countries. More specifically, the course examines the basic models of involvement in international business and the conditions appropriate for each. Class sessions will combine seminars and case discussions requiring active participation by all students. This course will explore the significance of sport across society and culture. Students will gain an understanding of the role of sport in culture and how sport is structured within society. Different sociological theories will be presented and discussed throughout the class to explain the intersection of sport and society. The Case Analysis course trains students in problem-solving techniques that are focused on cases of actual business challenges. Students work both individually and in teams to understand, resolve, document, and present their analyses. This course enables students to construct logical, evidence-based solutions while practicing presentation and business writing. This course introduces students to a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to the study of environmental issues; and emphasizes the interrelationships among the various physical, biological, and human systems. It examines major contemporary environmental issues, such as land use and climate, and focuses on how these issues are understood and addressed within the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. These topics will be explored through lecture, discussion and field trips during the tutorials. This course introduces students to the key concepts in media studies. The economic,social, political, and cultural contexts of modern media will be examined and analyzed. It will also consider the relationship between power, information and identity. This course is designed to provide business students with an introductory survey of the many business applications of descriptive and inferential statistics. Topics include frequency distributions, measures of location and dispersion, basic probability theory, discrete and continuous probability distributions, sampling methods and sampling distributions, sample size, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, linear regression, and forecasting. Three hours a week. This course introduces students to statistical reasoning and data analysis using R. Emphasizing modern computational approaches, students will learn to summarize and visualize data, apply inferential techniques (e.g., confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, and ANOVA), and model relationships (e.g., regression). Core statistical concepts, including randomization tests, boot- strapping, and the Central Limit Theorem, will be explored through theoretical and applied perspectives. Designed for students with a strong foundation in grade 12 mathematics, this course focuses on interpreting results, making data-driven decisions, and preparing for advanced studies in statistics. This course introduces students to some of the basic skills required in planning and reporting scientific research. It includes electronic searching of the literature, planning and design of experiments, analysis of experimental data, assessment of experimental error, scientific proof, ethics in research, scientific publications, social media, and scientific presentations.
